Under the guidance of Dr. Jorge Galvez, M.D. at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

Brief:

Design a trachea model to help train residents in intubating neonates. Internal anatomy of the trachea rings is critical to the procedure.

MRI Scans

MRI scans, along with Mimics Software, was used to develop a CAD model of the trachea.

This was developed and added to the CAD model after consulting with physicians regards anatomical correctness and can be seen in Gray.

Creating the Neck

They were crucial to the model as they allow doctors to maintain a point of reference with regards to the Up and Down direction.
