Recent trip to SF
I just got back from a pretty busy work trip to San Francisco. I spent most my time down in South SF near the pharma companies as I was doing some customer research and discovery. I will say… the campuses down there are gorgeous! I feel like I’d want to have as many walking meetings our outdoor conversations as I possibly can. It was also nice to be near the ocean and mountains… Something about those two environments feels a bit more relaxing.
Secret life of Walter Mitty
I try to watch this movie at least once a year. It’s not the greatest film in the world, but I found in during college at a point where I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. This was when I saw a lot of cool start-up work (back when SpaceX and Tesla were cool companies run by a sane person), and I kept thinking that I couldn’t do that. I need a bit of a kick in the butt to get there which involved a lot of people, books, movies, and articles. Queue Walter. I found this movie to really resonate with me, and I continue to resonate with the story.
Plus, the soundtrack is great, and the cinematography is gorgeous. There are definitely moments in there that feel a bit Severance-y which is cool to see! Also love the photography love in the movie - shoutout to the Nikon F3!
Clementine cake
After watching the secret life of walter mitty, I was inspired to make clementine cake. I didn't boil the whole mandarin (pro tip - boil the WHOLE mandarin, peel included!) so it wasn't great, but I'll try again soon!
Formula 1 Movie
Very fun movie! The F1 sequences are great and really impressive. I was following the F1 season when they were filming this movie, so it was cool to relive those moments in time. Story was okay, but a great movie!
Fuck ICE.
Just... Fuck ICE. And Republicans. And CEOs. I think Om Malik's blog post puts my thoughts on this whole situation and how it relates to Apple, and my frustrations there, better than I can.
Adam Savage & Doug Chiang
Okay, on a more positive note - I love this conversation between Adam and Doug. I love watching makers and creatives chat, and share stories.
Some images from my trip. I used a combination of Halide and Project Indigo to take these!
