11.14.2025 Musings

I’ve been traveling a bit more recently. Although this is something I pushed for, but I forgot that life also continues to happen around work travel, especially around October with Diwali, Thanksgiving and Christmas all around the corner… But hey, posting almost one-month later isn’t the worst!

iPhone 17 Pro but… no case

Wow I’m glad I got this phone. Wow are thermals an issue in devices these days… Didn’t we go through this a few years ago with Intel chips on the mac? Anyways… I found I was overheating my phone, especially during charging, whenever I had my Apple case on the phone. Plus is just made the phone SO big! I ended up taking the case off after a week, and it’s much nicer, and fits so much better in my pocket.

The Courage to be Disliked

I’m really enjoying this book right now. I’ve always found myself trying to be “liked” by other people everywhere I go, and it’s exhausting. Plus, it’s not authentic to who I am, and I want to be more true to me. Matt D’Avella on YouTube made a video recommending this book and I purchased it immediately. Initially, the format was a little unexpected as it’s not written like a traditional self help book. That being said, I do really enjoy the conversational style that the book is written in. I’m only halfway through, but excited to keep reading it!

ATP Episode 661: Intimate and Reimagined

Please go listen to these three friends have the most amazing argument/fight/banter/fun - Starts at 12:32, and lasts for over 8 minutes. I was laughing out loud when walking home from work the other day, it was that good!

Lenny’s Podcast with Katie Dill

Also just started listening to this episode, but wow is it wonderful! I love the way Katie talks about why Form & Function go together. Beauty is critical to making work that people use, and enjoy using, and I really appreciated listening to this episode. Not done yet… but so far, so good!

iPad Pro + Apple Pencil + Notes

I really enjoy taking notes and sketches of pathology spaces whenever I do site visits. Notebooks can be tricky because they have a spine and half the notebook is flopping around… I can’t take photos or recordings because of PHI. So I’ve been leaning on my 11” M1 iPad Pro and using the Notes app. Initially I tried using Procreate but my battery life was atrocious (which can be nerve wracking when onsite for a full day). But I recently tried the Notes app, and found that was an absolute game changer. The Pen tool captures my handwriting really well, and my battery doesn’t drain as quickly. Plus, remove the case, the thinness and weight of the iPad suddenly make so much more sense to me.
